Staff from Focus Music School in Collier Row visited Queen’s Hospital on December 10 to spread Christmas cheer, getting the young patients involved in a music session.
They performed Christmas while handing out gifts that were generously donated by businesses in the Romford and Hornchurch areas, along with contributions from the community for the youngest patients at our hospital.
The performance was staged by the new Focus Music School which opened at Collier Row’s Forest Row Community Centre in 2023.
Caroline Jenkins, Health Play Specialist in Tropical Lagoon said: “Focus Music coming in has really helped lift the mood and taken the scariness out of being in hospital for our youngest patients. The music session has really brightened up everyone’s day – even the staff were dancing around!”
Chris Hatwell, Director and co-founder of Focus Music said: “Before starting the school, we knew that we wanted to work a lot with our community, and we’re honoured for this to be our first of many community projects.
Both Liam and Chris are from Collier Row and have been friends for over 12 years now after meeting in college.
Liam Hughes, Director and co-founder of Focus Music added: “Queen’s Hospital is our local hospital, this place has been there for my family when they’ve need it and so it felt natural for us to give back.”
The school currently has 6 teachers and a social media team and hope to grow as much as possible. They currently have 75 students after just a year.
Thank you to Focus Music School for making the Christmas season special for our patients!
